The smell of sawdust permeated my whole house growing up, it came through the furnace vents from my father’s wood shop in the basement. His creativity along with that of many other family members – grandmothers who knitted and crocheted; a mom who sewed my sister and I outfits; and my great aunt Mona, a milliner, surrounded me in my younger years. Today I still exchange ideas of creative ideas using a variety of textiles with my aunt Faith. And every time I visit my father we do some type of project together made out of upcycled wood he has saved from his master woodmaker projects or what I have found on my journeys.
Many of the items I create are one-of-a-kind since the materials are found or gifted from others (when they no longer have a purpose for them). The majority of the items purchased here are original “getFunky designs” others are made from patterns I love. A portion of proceeds from all up-cycled items go to support other lifelong passion of mine, yoga and youth leadership. I donate a portion of all proceeds to support TheYoke and HerShe.
Please drop by my Esty shop, Lucky Feather Studios. All of these creations reduce waste in our landfills!
